Feeling pretty proud of myself.

I just took this picture about 10 minutes ago, and finished decorating it about 11 minutes ago. I'm extremely paranoid that something is going to happen to it in the next 36 hours. We're having a little b-day party for Carson on Sunday, but this afternoon was my only chance to get some alone time to work on this. Good thing, too, because it took me 6 hours, including baking, making all the frostings and decorating. Yeah. Don't quit your day job, Jen. This competes with the Elmo cupcakes, but I'm not sure it tops them. I mean, those things had fondant eyeballs. Also, to answer one of WoosterWeester's questions, we didn't do anything wild for Carson's b-day, except after dinner we went to Chuck E. Cheese, where we had a coupon for 100 tokens for $10. (Which, if you read my previous post, may now turn into $100 to get a new car CD player.) I didn't know that Chuck's games are now all 1 token. When I was growing up, the good ones were like 4 or 5 tokens, so we thought 100 would be great. Turns out it was about 50 too many! But still cheaper than buying their pizza!

Stay tuned for more pics and stories from the par-tay.

Wow lady! Your cake looks soooo good and I like that it's smiling at me! I'm going to have a hard time seeing it cut, but I'm sure I'll get past it when I taste how delicious it is!

Jen, you rock! The cake looks fabulous! I bet Carson is going to be so excited when he sees it - he should be super proud of his mama. That's a lot of time! Can't wait to sink my teeth into it...mmm...

PS I love the (what I think is a) muffler part. It's my favorite. It's all about the detail!

McQueen's eyes look perfect! In my experience, duplicating cartoon eyes is the hardest part of cake decorating. Kudos to you!

And good for you for braving Chuck E Cheese! It's definitely not parent friendly (in terms of cost or taste), but kids just LOVE it there! And not only are 100 tokens cheaper than a pizza, but they taste better, too! Ha! :)

okay...seriously...the cake looks so good i didn't know it was a cake. you didn't say it was a cake...so i was confused... it is AMAZING! nice job. When i draw or color, my kids always say "that's not mickey mouse...that's not a fire truck...that's not lighting mcqueen..." you got mad skillz.

also. i love chuck e cheese. and how was 100 tokens not enough. curtis and i play as many games as the kids...i'm pretty sure. but we always say it's so they can get more tickets and get a better prize. sure... we just really like ski ball! :o)

love you friend. have a fun party on sunday. wish i was there.

Okay, I just left a comment on Carrie's blog. I basically commissioned both you and Carrie to an open bid on making Sadia's birthday cake. Bidding closes on Friday, October 17th.

You ladies rock! ;)

The cake is amazing! Couldn't do that even if I wanted to. And I love the pic where Carson is on his tippy-toes. Adorable!

Hello, Oregon's own Ace of Cakes! Seriously, when are you going to start your own Food Network show? (And can I be a part?) :)

Sigh for the broken car cd player: there with ya.

Can I hire you for Hope's birthday?!

If I'm not mistaken, that cake is the work of a firstborn!:) Please tell me the rest of your house was trashed that day and Carson ran around in his undies. Cause if you were able to make that cake and do anything else productive, then I am even more impressed than I was with the cake decorating. Could you please set the bar a little lower for the rest of us?:) I'm guessing yours WON'T show up on cake wrecks.

Ha Ha, WoosterWeester stole my comment ... we really won't see that cake on Cake Wrecks. You are amazing!!

Also, FYI ... I recently learned that Chuck E Cheese opens around 10 AM. If you get there early, it's actually clean(ish), no one else is there, AND they test all of the games, so there are tickets coming out of everything. AND the employees don't mind if you take all of the tickets! It's fabulous!

So some morning, get another mommy friend, a good coffee drink, and let the kids play for relatively little money!! :)
