Sunday was "gingerbread house" on the countdown, and it was fun! We've kind of been taking advantage of the fact that Carson can't read. You see, I planned these days way in advance, and so far, at least 3 times the circumstances of the day make me feel like doing something different than planned, so Trent or I just look at the strip of paper, ignore what is written, and "read" what the new plan is for that night. When he learns to read, I'm screwed!
Yesterday was one of the switcheroo days. Our dinner time was a delayed and a little hectic, so we changed the evenings event to: Carson gets a new Christmas book to read. (I got If You Take a Mouse to the Movies for $1!) We read it 5 times in a row. That's 20 cents per read, but does not require me to prepare decorations or put much thought into it. I'm not exactly sure what we're going to do tonight...stay tuned!

I'm impressed he's not eating the candy in any of the pictures. :) What fun memories you guys are making. When Jack gets a little older we'll certainly be "borrowing" your ideas.
Yep, first it's the reading and then it's being able to understand the spelling we do to keep plans under wraps. We've moved on to spelling backwards, which my husband is a whiz at--but sometimes it just hurts my brain!
Carson looks like he's being very careful and precise! Does he get to eat it later?
I love the building of the GingerBread house. That's a favorite around here. Looks like Carson had a good time - good memories!
Ok...where did you get that Gingerbread House? It looks much more fun than the ones I have seen.
I am still excited about this idea...and I passed it on to a few moms in my small group and they are going to do the 12 Days of Christmas also...thanks again.
Fun! I love how Carson is concentrating on his work! Such a great idea to do this! You are a great mommy!
Jen- will you be my mommy?
Gingerbread houses are so much fun. Carson is sooooo focused. We tried to make this same Gingerbread house with Sadia last year..., I'm not sure if we used too much icing or, we ate too many pieces of candy along the way, but the end result looked nothing like the house on the box. We still had tons of fun. BTW, those cute little tupperware bowls.., we have the very same ones. Small world, huh? Okay, maybe not when you consider the fact that they're massed produced and shipped all over the world. :)
that is so fun!!! we usually do that every year & jay has been asking & asking. they don't make a gluten-free kit that i know of & i'm not really wanting to put the effort into searching for allergy free candy to put on and baking our own gingerbread as well. may be one day again!
