Today is the beginning of the Thai New Year celebration of Songkran. I've been reading up a bit on it, but in truth much of my learning began after reading Wendy's post and K's post, so you might as well go check out what they said! But one thing we know: the most popular way to celebrate Songkran is to get soaked! People fill the streets with water guns and buckets, no hold barred--just one huge water fight. After seeing how hot it is there right now, I'll bet it feels great! Where we live that might send someone to the hospital for pneumonia, but I'm not ruling it out for the coming years! Can't wait until next year when we'll have our Thai babe home to celebrate with! I love how this elephant is getting in on the action!

Sawatdee Pee Mai means Happy New Year.
That looks like tons of fun!! I love it!
How fun! Can you imagine getting sprayed by an elephant? =)
I can see Carson loving this tradition, already!
I was just telling Jason the other day that I think we should make this a new family tradition, as a way to incorporate the culture into our family. Although, we also have some pretty cool temps sometimes in April, so that may make for one heck of a messy kitchen! ;-)
